The federal government of Pakistan has officially issued instructions to the FIA to take action against Imran Khan Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other leaders for inciting people and making baseless allegations against the state and institutions. Official instructions have been issued by the Ministry of Interior on the recommendation of the committee of constitutional and legal experts formed in the meeting held in Lahore on Saturday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In this regard, the FIA has also been informed of the request made by the armed forces to the government.
It should be remembered that Imran Khan appointed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and an army officer in charge of Shaukat Khanum. Government sources have told Urdu News that steps have also been accelerated to increase the powers of the FBI in this regard. After which the FIA will get the authority to take action under Section 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code for the crime of inciting people through accusations and propaganda against the government, state institutions and personalities in gatherings including social media.

To give this power to the FIA, the federal government approved an amendment to the Act on the referral of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The FIA will now have the power to take action under PPC Section 505 (statement causing public mischief) against anyone who spreads rumors and misinformation against state institutions on social media or any forum. will be involved.
The federal government will also approach the relevant forums next week against the encirclement of public property and buildings.
According to the summary approved by the Cabinet, the FIA did not have the power to take action under Section 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code before this amendment, but it has been included in the Act. Earlier, this power was only with the police, but the police did not have the power to take action against any alleged crime on social media. That is why this amendment has been brought. After the amendment, the FIA will also have the authority to take action on any kind of fake news and rumors on social media. After the approval of the Parliament, the punishment under this law can be imprisonment up to seven years. According to FIA officials, these cases can be investigated and acted upon by FIA Cyber Crime Wing as well as other wings including Counter-Terrorism Wing after getting powers. The federal government will approach the relevant forums next week against other illegal activities including arson and violent activities on government properties and buildings.
